Bike To Work Day Calgary would like to extend a warm invitation to Bow Valley College students and staff to participate in our exciting 'Bike to Work Day' event. Whether you're a seasoned pro on two wheels or just starting out, everyone is welcome to join in on the fun and camaraderie of cycling to work. It's a fantastic opportunity to promote sustainability, fitness, and community engagement while enjoying the fresh air and scenic routes of Calgary. So, saddle up and pedal your way to work with us on Bike to Work Day!


Event Details:

  1. Date: Friday, May 3rd, 2023

  2. Time: 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM

  3. Main Location: Delta Gardens (just south of the Peace Bridge)

  4. Delta Gardens Highlights:

  5. Free Breakfast: Kickstart your day with a nutritious breakfast.

  6. Exciting Prizes: Bike to Work Day has an exclusive draw for new riders—a chance to win a brand-new bike! Regular riders can also win bikes or other fantastic prizes.

  7. Team Up and Represent: Encourage your fellow students or employees from BVC to team up and represent your organisation at Bike to Work Day. It’s a celebration of bike commuting, whether they’re seasoned riders or new to the idea.

  9. 8 Locations Available to Serve You: Kickstart your day with a nutritious snack & a mini tune-up!

Win Big: New cyclists, listen up! Bike to Work Day has an exclusive draw for a brand-new bike. 🎁 And for new and returning riders, there’s a treasure trove of prizes waiting: gift cards, swag, and even shiny new bikes! 🚲💫

Build a Team and Increase the Fun:

  1. Bow Valley College Meetup: Gather at BVC and bike over to Delta Gardens together. Strengthen camaraderie while pedaling as a group!

  2. Gardens Gathering: Meet directly at Delta Gardens at an appointed time and bike to work as a united team.

  3. Bike Portraits: Celebrate your team with a fun group bike portrait. You can use the hashtag #biketoworkdayyyc to share your picture.

  4. Non-Bike Owners Can Join: An upcoming Bike to Work Day announcement will make it easier than ever for people who don’t own bikes to join in the fun. Neuron, a micromobility company that serves downtown Calgary, is teaming up with Bike to Work Day to help more riders celebrate bike commuting!

The Students' Association of Bow Valley College is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda.

 

We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Mohkinstsis” which we now call the City of Calgary.

 

The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
