Run For Office

Running for a student leadership position with SABVC is easy. We have highlighted the 4 simple steps to running on this page.

Current Elections

SABVC currently has 5 vacant student council positions that need to be filled. If you are interested in getting involved, download your nomination package here

Nominations are open from October 18th at 9:00am and close on October 29th at 4:00pm MDT. Presentations and voting will take place at the SABVC General Council Meeting on November 5th at 12pm.

Step 1

Download a nomination package from our website during an election nomination period.

Step 2

Decide which position you want to run for. Executive positions include the Director of Finance, Director of External Affairs, Director of Internal Affairs, and two Board of Governors Representatives. General Council positions include one representative from each school at Bow Valley College, as well as one Indigenous Representative and one Regional Campus Representative.

Step 3

Read the nomination package thoroughly and fill it out according to the instructions found in the package.

Step 4

Submit your nomination package via email to no later than the deadline specified in your nomination package.

Voting Rules

  • All eligible voters will receive an email to their MyBVC account with voting instructions

  • The voting ballot will be accessed via students’ MyBVC email accounts

  • Eligible voters are those who are enrolled in BVC courses and have paid Students’ Association fees

  • If you do not receive the voting registration email, it means that you are not eligible to vote in the election

  • Voters may cast one (1) single vote for one candidate

  • Once you have voted, it will not be possible to vote again in the given election
