    Free Bites by SABVC, Sponsored by Sodexo SABVC is committed to fighting food insecurity on our campus and is always ready to support students in need. Through our partnership with Sodexo, we are pleased to provide gift cards to students who require assistance with food while on campus. Eligibility Through our "Free Bites" program, a current student at Bow Valley College has the opportunity to receive a $6 gift card to be used at "The Market" by Sodexo, located on the 2nd floor of South Campus. This initiative aims to support our students by providing them with access to meals, helping them stay focused and energized throughout their school day. Must be currently enrolled in and having a valid @mybvc email address Limit of 1 gift card per student per semester Application Process If you ever find yourself unable to afford food during the day, SABVC has got you covered. Simply fill out the application form below and visit SABVC to claim your card. To ensure everyone has access, we limit one application per student each term. While we understand that $6 may not cover all your needs, we hope this contribution helps you purchase some food from our BVC market. Free Bites Friday In addition to the Free Bites gift card, stay tuned for our Free Bites Friday events, where one Friday every month we give out free lunch to students.     SABVC Policy & Bylaws SABVC’s bylaws are in place to guide and regulate the Student’s Association. They outline the requirements for membership, provide a breakdown of membership/health and dental fees, and a breakdown of the roles/responsibilities of council members, among other points. One may also view the responsibilities of each of SABVC’s Executive Committee, learn how the annual election process is conducted, and learn how clubs function.     Tuition & Fees Consultation Tuition & Fees Overview As per Alberta law, the Board of Governors of the College sets the tuition fees. The College will talk with students about fee increases before the Board approves them. BVC must follow Alberta laws and regulations about tuition fees. Share Understanding Tuition and Fees at Bow Valley College Your college fees include tuition fees, mandatory non-instructional fees, and other mandatory fees. A mandatory fee is a fee you must pay. A mandatory non-instructional fee is a fee that students must pay for specific goods or services that typically enhance the student experience. They are not related to instruction in a specific program and are not optional. BVC will form a Consultation Committee each year. The Academic Council will be the Consultation Committee, and this committee will talk with learners about services and fees. In addition, the annual Tuition and Fee Consultation will also be hosted by BVC and gives students a chance to provide their opinions about the proposed tuition and fees. The Tuition Fee Consultation and the Consultation Committee are the way that BVC discusses fees. They are also the way BVC discusses policies and procedures regarding fees. BVC will share financial information about tuition, mandatory fees, and non-instructional fees. The Consultation Committee will have two meetings a year. One meeting will give feedback before mid-December. One meeting will happen before fees are approved by the Board of Governors. How are the Changes Considered? When BVC increases its fees, it will look at: How the increase affect students Program costs Market Demand How many students take a program How the programs have worked in the past Fees at other colleges Other important information, including student assistance (or funding) Student Engagement BVC will be hosting Tuition and Fee Consultation each year and Students are encouraged to attend these sessions to ensure that the consultation is meaningful.   • Bike Lockers | SABVC

    BVC Bike Locker Secure your ride with ease! Bow Valley College’s bike cage lockers, an initiative driven by SABVC's advocacy efforts, are available to provide students at our downtown campus with added security while biking to school. Shield your bike from theft and weather conditions with this convenient storage solution. Eligibility Every student of Bow Valley College can avail themselves of the BVC bike cage program. A $30 cash deposit is required for an access card, which will be returned if the access card is no longer needed. Must be currently enrolled in and having a valid @mybvc email address Fill out Bike Cage Forms $30 cash deposit for the access card. Application Process Don't risk ruining your ride by just parking it outside campus; thefts can happen anywhere! 01 Read Bike Lockers Rules and Guidelines Please spend time in reading the general guidance on how to use Bike Lockers. The Students' Association of Bow Valley College is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda.

 

We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Mohkinstsis” which we now call the City of Calgary.

 

The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
