Bow Valley College (BVC) is excited to announce the additional member of their counselling team, who will be with us temporarily until June 30th, 2024.

Please join us in welcoming Derrick, a registered psychologist, as the newest member of the BVC counselling team. Derrick is available for online appointments, providing invaluable support to all BVC students.

Derrick brings warmth and kindness to his work, and we believe that all our students will greatly benefit from his expertise. If any students are interested in meeting with a male counselor through BVC services, SABVC encourages students to reach out and book an appointment here.

In addition to his role at BVC, Derrick runs his own counseling clinic and private practice in South Calgary. During his time with BVC, he specializes in attachment-based, emotion-focused therapy, assisting clients with a wide range of mental and emotional health issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, and substance use. His areas of expertise also include men's mental and emotional health, relationship health, support for teens and young adults transitioning to adulthood, career counseling, and assistance with separation and divorce.

SABVC is also excited to have Derrick on board and looks forward to the positive impact he will have on BVC's counselling services.

Additionally, check out more information below about men's mental health.

The Students' Association of Bow Valley College is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda.

We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Mohkinstsis” which we now call the City of Calgary.

The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
