Wellness Wednesday & Crafternoon
Wellness Wednesday & Crafternoon are ongoing events that SABVC hosts for students with the intention of giving students a safe space to relax, destress, and take part in a wellbeing activity. Activities will be different each session so that there is always something for everyone! Past activities have included friendship bracelet making, painting, button pin making, origami, meditation, and more! We always have colouring sheets available for those that would rather sit and colouring, as well as lots of resources and handouts that cover a variety of mental health and wellness needs.
Free Bites Friday & Breakfast Break
Being a student is stressful, and if you are experiencing trouble accessing or affording food this can only add to the stress you may already be carrying. SABVC wants to reduce food insecurity on our campus, and one way we do this is by offering monthly events that serve up meals to our students.
If you are hungry for lunch, join us at Free Bites Friday, sponsored by Sodexo. At this monthly event, we offer a pizza lunch to 150+ students every semester.
Want to start your day off right? Join us at Breakfast Break. Breakfast Break is an initiative that sees us serving breakfast to students on campus. Each month we are able to serve an average of 200 students breakfast so that they can start they day without feeling hungry.
Mental Health Resources
SABVC has a variety of pamphlets, worksheets, and handouts available at our office for students to take as they need. These range from information on mental health organizations and services in Calgary, to tips for students on stress management and self care.
Personal Hygiene and Sexual Health Products
SABVC offers free personal hygiene and sexual health products to students. These products will vary based on availability, but in the past have included both latex and non latex internal and external condoms, dental hygiene products, pads, tampons, and face masks. In order to decrease barriers of access, especially barriers surrounding having to ask for products, we make these products available in self-serve bins inside our office. If for some reason the bins are empty and students do have to ask for products, we are a judgement free zone and will never ask questions on need.
