Take a Moment For Your Mental Health

In recognition of World Mental Health Day on October 10, we encourage you to pause and check in with yourself. 💚

World Mental Health Day – October 10

NDSD 2025 Quiz October 6 – 12

ree

From October 6–12, take a few minutes for yourself. The Students’ Association of Bow Valley College is a proud partner of National Depression Screening Day (NDSD) and The Calgary Counselling Centre.

Between classes, exams, deadlines, and part-time jobs, school can feel overwhelming. And when things pile up, it can be easy for your mental health to take a backseat. As part of NDSD, we’re inviting students to check in on how they’re feeling by taking a free, anonymous quiz at areyoufeelingok.com. It only takes a few minutes and could be the first step toward feeling better.

What to know about the quiz:

  • Available between October 6–12

  • Offered in six languages

  • Can be taken on any computer, tablet, or phone

  • Takes 3–5 minutes to complete

  • Completely free and confidential

  • Helps you better understand how you’re feeling

  • Provides resources for accessing mental health support

It can be hard to talk about your mental health with friends or family. Depression is treatable, but less than half of those with depression seek treatment. It can be hard to seek treatment, especially when everyday tasks feel impossible. All it takes is one step at a time to learn the skills to start feeling better. This can be as small as getting out of bed, taking a shower, or going for a walk. Small, manageable tasks like these may seem insignificant, but they are the key to helping us to start feeling like ourselves again. Tackling depression is all about building on small successes. The easiest way to start that journey is to take the free NDSD quiz and to reach out for help if you need it.

The Students' Association of Bow Valley College is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda.

We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Mohkinstsis” which we now call the City of Calgary.

The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
