It involves voting by the student body to either approve or reject the proposed changes, ensuring that decisions reflect the collective will of the members. myvirtualdoctor A virtual healthcare service that provides 24/7 access to licensed healthcare professionals, including nurses and doctors. This convenient and accessible program ensures that students can receive medical support anytime, from anywhere. MyVirtualDoctor is a fully refundable, opt-out program. A student referendum was held from October 3, 2024, at 9:00 AM to October 7, 2024, at 11:59 PM, asking whether the program should be implemented for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2025). The students have voted, and the referendum was approved. As a result, MyVirtualDoctor will be implemented starting Fall 2025. The increasing shortage of doctors, along with the closure of walk-in clinics, is worsening the healthcare situation, leaving many with limited options other than turning to already overburdened hospitals. Myvirtualdoctor can assist eligible students in overcoming challenges in accessing primary health care. Who is eligible? All full-time SABVC members is automatically enrolled in myvirtualdoctor plan. What is myvirtualdoctor? myvirtualdoctor provides eligible students and their immediate families with individual access to qualified medical care through a virtual platform 24 hrs per day, 7 days per week to address many of the common concerns faced by students. What is the cost? The program cost $39 plus GST for the year . During the annual opt-out period, student members may choose to opt-out from this service without any conditions for a full refund. myvirtualdoctor Features Eligible students and their dependents can access to virtual health care if the result of this referendum is adding the myvirtualdoctor plan. UPass Thanks to a partnership between Bow Valley College and Calgary Transit, eligible BVC students can now enjoy lower, more affordable transit rates through the UPass program. This digital pass gives eligible students unlimited access to Calgary Transit, making it easier and more affordable to get around the city and to campus. If you need assistance setting up your UPass on the MyFare app, SABVC is happy to guide you through the process. Eligibility The UPass is now automatically included for all eligible BVC students, giving you unlimited access to Calgary Transit throughout your term, at a significantly discounted rate . If you meet the following criteria, you’ll be enrolled and billed directly, no extra steps needed: Must have a valid @mybvc email address Must be enrolled full-time in the semester - a minimum full-time credit load of 9 credits. Learners who carry less than 9 credits in a term will be considered part-time. Must be registered in classes and have paid your tuition each term. How to use Calgary Transit - MyFare App: Follow these steps to have your digital UPass Ticket. 01 Confirm Your UPass Registration Log in to your myBVC.ca student account. Go to your Statement of Account and make sure you’ve been billed for the Transit Pass - this confirms your eligibility. 02 Download the myFare App Download and install the Calgary Transit My Fare app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS) 03 Create your MyID account using @mybvc email Go to Profile, click New Account, sign up with Calgary MyID using your MyBVC email. 04 Get your verification code After entering your MyBVC email, check for a verification code. Once confirmed, return to the My Fare app to sign in. Your UPass will appear in your ticket wallet within 48 hours. If not, refresh your wallet by tapping the button at the top right. SABVC Policy & Bylaws SABVC’s bylaws are in place to guide and regulate the Student’s Association. They outline the requirements for membership, provide a breakdown of membership/health and dental fees, and a breakdown of the roles/responsibilities of council members, among other points. One may also view the responsibilities of each of SABVC’s Executive Committee, learn how the annual election process is conducted, and learn how clubs function. Adherence to a well-developed set of bylaws ensures that the SABVC team is accountable and functions well, allowing for better service. Who we are About SABVC Who We Are Established in 1994, the Students’ Association of Bow Valley College (SABVC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the effective representation of Bow Valley College students. We strive to encourage and support Bow Valley College students in order to enhance the overall student experience for the entire campus community. We are currently ratified under the Post-Secondary Learning Act of Alberta (PSLA) in Section 93. We've got your back in these tough times! SABVC BUNCH BOX Healthy Choices for a Stronger Campus The SABVC Bunch Box is the new initiative replacing the Grocery Assistance Gift Card program. This program offers fresh and nutritious food boxes available for pickup on select days, allowing us to fight food insecurity on campus with healthy options for students in need. *Actual product may vary from image Eligibility SABVC Bunch Box program is here to help all our student members. Whether you're studying part-time or full-time, you can sign up for this program for each term. Each Bunch Box contains up to $50 worth of fresh fruits and vegetables, and you can choose from three different box options to suit your needs. Please note that only one application is allowed per term. Must be currently enrolled in and having a valid @mybvc email address Must provide their valid BVC Student ID. Board of Directors Who are the BODs? The Board of Directors (BODs) are 9 student leaders elected by SABVC members. The BODs are elected annually in the winter semester. Their term with SABVC starts in May and ends in April the following year. Our BODs have the ultimate decision-making authority over most aspects of the Association. Read more Student Bike Locker Program There is a designated locker in the parkade specifically for students to safely store their bicycles while attending classes. To gain access to the bike locker you must first obtain an access card which can be done by visiting the Learner Success Services (LSS) office. Please note the access card requires a $30 cash deposit, which will be refunded when it is returned at the end of the semester. Each access card is active during the current semester only.
